Elaine Introduction

Initially, I found the introduction a bit difficult, but then was taken by surprise as to how quickly I finished it. It was very interesting.
I liked the definition of the mysterious aspect of virtue: It rises from the depth of the soul. Natural virtues are good, but the supernatural moral virtues are like the icing on the cake. It's wonderful to do good deeds, but without the grace of God behind them, they are just ho-hum.
I had never heard the term "virtue of religion" before. It is so true that there is no society without religion. It is impossible to suppress one's belief in God regardless of how difficult a culture makes it. People will find a way to worship.

I am glad that I was not the only one surprised by the depth of the Introduction but then equally surprised by the wealth of information that was there as a foundation to reading the book....You mentioned that good deeds without the grace of God behind them are just ho-hum. I think that many churches are now calling their people to be good social workers but no calling them to do things for love of Jesus ... I liked that you noted, "People will find a way to worship." That is easily seen in society. Thanks for posting and I am glad that you are blogging with us.
